Bhubaneswar: A team from the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested the wanted ganja (marijuana) smuggler Nilu Pradhan from his village in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday.
According to reports, Nilu, a native of Beguniapada village under the same police limits, was involved in several cases of smuggling ganja to Mumbai and Gujarat. Despite being aware of his illegal activities, the Mumbai Police and NCB were unable to nab him. Nevertheless, he was on the most wanted list of the Mumbai NCB.
Acting on a tip-off that Nilu was present in his village; an NCB team reached Ganjam along with the Bhubaneswar Narcotic Control Bureau and conducted a raid in Beguniapada village. With the help of the local police, they apprehended Nilu late on Saturday night. The Mumbai NCB team took him on transit remand for further investigation.
Confirming the arrest of the most wanted ganja smuggler, Ranjit Kumar Prusty, Additional SP of Ganjam, told the media that Nilu was arrested on the basis of warrant issued by the NCB.
