Bhubaneswar: The Additional District Judge (ADJ) of Dharmagarh Suresh Chandra Pradhan convicted two accused of brutally murdering a person from Amajor village under Jayapatna police station in Kalahandi district in 2015.
The convicts have been identified as Khageswar Raut and Gadadhar Rana.
The court sentenced the duo to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 each for murdering Manu Rana in 2015. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months of imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Manu Rana was strangled to death on a roadside, and his body was later dumped in a nearby forest. The police had arrested the accused and presented the case in court.
The ADJ pronounced the verdict after hearing the statement of witnesses and found the accused guilty of the heinous crime.
