Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a man and a woman immolated themselves by pouring petrol and setting themselves on fire in a paddy field at Khiching village under Raruan police station in Mayurbhanj on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning, and the victims were rushed to Sukruli Hospital in critical condition.
Unfortunately, the woman, identified as Bharati Patra, succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead by doctors. The man, Harishankar Acharya, is undergoing treatment at Sukruli Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Keonjhar for further treatment.
The reason behind the attempted double suicide is unclear, and police are investigating the matter.
