Nabarangapur: In a shocking and gruesome incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife and hid her body inside a toilet septic tank in Bargaon village under Raighar police station limits in Nabarangapur district.

The crime came to light when the couple’s four-year-old son revealed his father’s dark secret in front of villagers. The child reportedly told villagers that his father had killed his mother and hidden her body in the toilet tank.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday. Subash Gond and his wife Manei Gond had gone to attend a wedding along with other family members. They returned home around 12 noon. A quarrel broke out between the couple over some issue, and in a fit of rage, Subash allegedly killed his wife in front of their children. After realising she was dead, he kept the body inside the house during the day. Late on Saturday night, around 12 midnight, he allegedly dragged the body and dumped it into the septic tank of the toilet.

The next day (Sunday), he pretended as if his wife had gone somewhere and told villagers that she had left the house. When villagers grew suspicious and repeatedly questioned him about his wife’s whereabouts, Subash remained silent. It was then that the four-year-old boy came forward and narrated the entire incident in front of the villagers, saying his father had killed his mother.

Shocked by the child’s revelation, the villagers immediately informed the police. Raighar police reached the spot and, late on Sunday night, recovered the body of Manei from the septic tank and arrested Manei’s husband.

Further investigation is underway. No official statement has been released by the police so far.
