Naveen Questions Govt Over Cancelled Combined Police Service Exam, Demands Action In Paper Leak

Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday asked the State Government when the Combined Police Service Examination, cancelled in 2025 due to question paper leak, will be held and when the culprits involved will be punished.

Taking to X, Patnaik wrote that while one batch of sub-inspectors has completed training and received appointments, thousands of aspirants remain in uncertainty due to the paper leak. On Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took salute at the convocation of the 13th batch of SI officers at Biju Patnaik State Police Academy in Bhubaneswar. Patnaik pointed out that the appointment process for these 336 officers, who completed two years of training, was initiated during the BJD government.

“I extend my best wishes to all newly appointed officers. Let everyone work with firm resolve to strengthen the judicial system along with serving the people,” he said. Patnaik accused the BJP government of seeking to take undue credit without doing anything.

“The most ironic aspect is that the BJP government is now seeking to take undue credit without doing anything. First, the government should clarify: When will the Combined Police Service Exam, which was cancelled in 2025 due to question paper leak, be held? When will the culprits involved in the sale and leak of question papers receive strict punishment?” he asked. He alleged the government has wasted nearly a year for thousands of aspirants.

“The BJP government has wasted nearly a year of time for thousands of young men and women aspirants. The incompetence of the double-engine government has disappointed Odisha’s youth. It has pushed the dreams and futures of aspirants into uncertainty,” Patnaik said.”

This delay is weakening their self-confidence. It is also damaging public trust in impartiality and transparency of government recruitment. The government should immediately reorganize the exam and issue a notification. People of Odisha are no longer willing to listen to empty rhetoric; they are preparing to give a fitting response,” he added.
