Sambalpur: The Lagna for celebration of Nuakhai festival, the major agrarian festival of Western Odisha, was finalised today.
The auspicious moment was decided at a meeting of priests and members of the Brahmapura Temple Trust Committee in Sambalpur. As per the decision, Goddess Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Sambalpur, will be offered Nabanna, the season’s first harvest, between 9.40 am and 9.54 am on September 15.
People across Western Odisha districts can offer Nabanna to presiding deities in their localities accordingly and partake the newly harvested rice after the offering to Goddess Samaleswari.
Nuakhai is celebrated with fervour on the fifth day of the lunar fortnight of Bhadrab month in Odia calendar.
