Bhubaneswar: Amid growing controversy over errors in school textbooks, the Odisha School and Mass Education Department has assured that corrected and error-free versions of the textbooks will be made available very soon.
Addressing a press meet, School and Mass Education Secretary N Thirumala Naik said the state government has taken the matter very seriously. Corrected and revised textbooks will be made available to students within a very short time. Experts and educationists are currently reviewing the errors. Once the corrections are done, the revised versions of the textbooks will be uploaded on the department’s official website so that students and teachers can easily access and use the corrected editions.
He further clarified that Chief Minister has taken serious note of the textbook errors. And the government is committed to maintaining the quality of educational materials and will further strengthen the review and scrutiny process in the future to prevent such mistakes from recurring.
The Secretary appealed to students, parents, and teachers not to get confused and requested them to use the existing books until the corrected versions are officially released.
He added that the department is working round the clock to resolve the issue at the earliest.
This assurance comes amid widespread public criticism and discussions over huge errors found in the newly distributed school textbooks across the state.
