NIT Rourkela Medical Officer Found Hanging In His Room

Rourkela: A medical officer of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room inside NIT campus on Monday.

The victim was identified as Dr Santosh Hugar (30).

The doctor was a bachelor and had reportedly joined the NIT in 2023. He was staying alone in the official quarters located on the premises of the NIT.

It is suspected that Dr Hugar committed suicide but the reason why he took such an extreme step is yer to be ascertained.

On being informed, a police team reached the site and initiated a probe into the incident. The body has been sent for autopsy.
