Bhubaneswar: This year’s Durga Puja immersion processions in Bhubaneswar will be held with a traditional touch, as the Commissionerate Police has banned the use of DJs, laser lights, and firecrackers. The decision was taken to ensure safety, law and order, and cultural sanctity during the festivities.
The immersion processions will now be accompanied only by traditional musical instruments, informed Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh after a high-level preparatory meeting convened at the Police Seva Bhawan.
The meeting, chaired by Police Commissioner Singh, was attended by Additional Commissioner Narasingh Bhol, DCP Jagmohan Meena and representatives of various puja committees.
With reports of disorder and unruly behavior witnessed in past years, the authorities emphasized stricter regulations and coordination this time. Puja committees were urged to follow the guidelines and extend cooperation in maintaining peace and discipline during the immersion rituals.
The Commissionerate Police assured adequate security arrangements and traffic management during the grand celebrations, while appealing to the public to uphold tradition and celebrate responsibly.
