Bhubaneswar: The mercury is steadily soaring across Odisha and the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted that the maximum temperature will soar to 40°C in several places of the state in early April.
According to the weather office, the highest maximum temperature will be 38°C in at least nine places in Odisha on Thursday. The day temperatures in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Titilagarh, Bhawanipatna, Parlakhemundi, and Nayagarh are likely to touch 38°C or rise higher today.
Similarly, the maximum temperatures may touch 37°C in Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Raigarh, Bhubaneswar, Chandbali, Bhadrak, Baripada, Dhenkanal, and Angul.
At the same time, the IMD predicted light rain/thunderstorms in some places on Friday. However, there will be no respite from the heat as the day temperature in Jharsuguda may touch 40°C tomorrow. Other places such as Niagara, Bhavanipatna, and Bolangir may experience a maximum temperature of 39°C tomorrow.
The day temperatures in Jharsuguda and Sundargarh will likely touch 40°C on Saturday. In comparison, the mercury is likely to soar to 39°C in Bolangir, Titilagarh, Bhawanipatna, Parlakhemundi, Bhubaneswar, Nayagarh, Sonepur, and Boudh.
