Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Health Department has warned of strict action against striking doctors of the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) and ordered stoppage of salary for protesting doctors.

The department has strictly ordered to stop the salary of OMHS cadre medical officers participating in the strike.

In a letter to authorities of all medical college hospitals, all CDMOs, and PHOs, the department has asked them to remove contractual doctors from duty after issuing notice.

Earlier in the day, the Government urged protesting doctors to withdraw their strike, resume duties, and join discussions. The government said patient care remains its top priority and assured that doctors’ genuine demands will be discussed after they return to work.

Doctors across the state have been on strike since July 1 pressing for their 10-point charter of demands.

Their demands include implementation of the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme as per the central pay structure from the date of eligibility, proportionate cadre restructuring, incremental incentives for super specialty, specialists, diploma holders and administrators.

They also demanded postmortem allowance, implementation of a three-year exit policy in KBK and TSP areas, construction of Capital Hospital-II in Bhubaneswar, strengthening of safety and security measures including revision of the Odisha Medicare Act, regularisation of ad-hoc doctors, and provision of comprehensive health insurance for all healthcare personnel.
