Bargarh: In a major breakthrough, Bargarh police on Monday arrested a notorious criminal and two of his associates from Budapali village under Bijepur police limits in Bargarh district.
The accused has been identified as Buddhadev Biswal alias China, who was apprehended while allegedly smuggling 29 kg of ganja (cannabis).
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid and seized illegal firearms, 12 live bullets, two magazines, five mobile phones, and two motorcycles from the trio.
“Buddhadev Biswal has two murder cases, six dacoity cases, and several theft cases registered against him. He is a habitual offender with cases pending in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, and even in Chhattisgarh,” informed Bargarh SP Prahalad Sahai Meena while speaking to the media.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the network and identify other persons involved in the smuggling racket.
