Thunderstorms, Rain Likely In Several Odisha Districts Today

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph and light to moderate rain are likely to affect some parts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts of Odisha within the next two hours, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places.

According to the weather office, rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur in several districts of Odisha for the next few days. It predicted gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph per hour during this period.

Additionally, the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar of Odisha are also likely to experience rain today.

A yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal and Deogarh. In addition, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places in north Odisha, south coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Boudh, and one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha.

An orange warning for rain has been issued in several Odisha districts. According to the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning and hailstorms accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Angul, Nayagarh and Dhenkanal on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rainfall will likely occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, and Khurda.
