Bhubaneswar: The nomination papers of five candidates have been rejected in the Nuapada by-election. Out of 19 nominations filed, 14 candidates’ papers were accepted.
The scrutiny process took place on the last day, determining the final list of candidates for the election. The rejected nominations could be due to various reasons, such as incomplete documentation or not meeting eligibility criteria.
The BJP, BJD, and Congress are indeed fighting a triangular contest in the Nuapada Assembly by-election. The key candidates are BJP’s Jay Dholakia, son of late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria, former minister and Biju Mahila Janata Dal president and Congress nominee Ghasiram Majhi, veteran tribal leader who secured second position in the 2024 Assembly polls as an Independent candidate
This by-election is significant as it will test the strength of the ruling BJP, opposition BJD, and Congress in Odisha, especially after the recent change in government. The outcome may indicate trends for the 2029 Assembly elections
