Odisha: A Land Of Arts Transforming Into A Hub Of Excellence, Says Dy CM Parida

Bhubaneswar: “Now is the time for investment in Odisha,” declared Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida as she addressed investors and industrial representatives during a session titled Chemical, Petrochemical, and Plastics at the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave 2025. She expressed gratitude to the partners who have played a pivotal role in transforming Odisha, known for its rich artistic heritage, into a global industrial hub of excellence.

Parida emphasized that Odisha is making remarkable strides in the chemical, petrochemical, and plastics sectors, which have positioned the state as a prominent player in both national and international markets. She noted the growing interest of foreign investors, calling it a testament to Odisha’s global appeal.

Minister for Industry, Skill Development, and Technical Education, Sampad Chandra Swain, highlighted Odisha’s transformation into a hub for chemical and petrochemical production. Swain attributed the progress to strategic infrastructure development and robust ancillary facilities, such as the Indian Oil Corporation refinery and the Paradip Plastic Park. He emphasized the importance of producing value-added products to enhance Odisha’s industrial output and competitiveness in global markets.

Bhupendra Singh Punia, Managing Director of IPICOL and IDCO, presented a detailed roadmap for ensuring Odisha’s industrial future. He outlined strategic goals aimed at sustaining the state’s leadership in the chemical and petrochemical sectors.

The session also featured an engaging discussion on Global Competition in the Chemicals Sector and Odisha in It, moderated by Manas Majumdar, Partner and Leader at PwC India. Industry leaders such as Ravi Goenka, Chairman of Lakshmi Organic Ltd., and Aditya Berry from Chambers Inc., shared insights on Odisha’s unique position in the global market.

Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director of Oil India Ltd., highlighted the pivotal role of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) refinery in Paradip and its future prospects. Rath underscored how the refinery has become a cornerstone for allied industries and international trade.

Amlan Kanthi Das, Senior Vice President at Luminous Power Technology, presented on advancements in chemical battery manufacturing. His insights showcased Odisha’s commitment to modern technology and innovation in the sector.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by C. P. Bhartiya, representing the North Odisha Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

With significant contributions from industry leaders and government officials, the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave 2025 reaffirmed Odisha’s emergence as a leading hub for chemicals, petrochemicals, and plastics, setting the stage for further investments and industrial growth.
