Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Legislative Assembly is going to be completely digitised in the next one-two years, said Speaker Surama Padhy.
The process has already been initiated with a training programme of officers of District Information Centres, she said.
“The National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) has already initiated the process for a complete digitisation of the Odisha Assembly. We have aimed at making the Assembly paper-less. Officers from all 30 District Information Centres (DIC) came to Bhubaneswar for training with NeVA. The training session will continue throughout the day. We have plans to train all the legislators including the newcomers through NeVA,” Padhy.
“The digitisation process had also commenced in previous Assembly sessions. I expect the Assembly to be completely digitised within a year or two. We have also had success in the initiative to some extent in the last two years. Minimum paper has been used in the Assembly business,” she added.
The NeVA tablet with the upgraded App has been installed in the table of all the MLAs. Efforts are on to make all the members tech-savvy, the Speaker informed.
The new process will help reduce government expenditure.
NeVA aims at bringing all the legislatures of the country on a single platform, creating a massive data depository.
Paperless Assembly or e-Assembly is a concept involving the use of electronic devices to facilitate proceedings in the House. It enables automation of the entire law-making process, tracking of documents and sharing of information.
