Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved a tender worth Rs 108 crore (excluding GST) for a crucial component of the Integrated Anandapur Barrage Project, aimed at boosting irrigation and socio-economic development in Keonjhar district.

The initiative will irrigate 3,450 hectares of Culturable Command Area (CCA) through underground pipelines, benefiting farmers in the Anandapur, Hatadihi, and Ghasipura blocks.

The approved project includes the development of 2,221 hectares of CCA, along with Command Area Development (CAD), under the Baitarani Left Bank Canal (BLBC) from RD 0.00 km to 28.50 km, and 1,229 hectares of CCA, including CAD, under the Baitarani Right Bank Canal (BRBC) from RD 0.00 km to 9.00 km.

The work, scheduled for completion within 18 months, forms part of the broader Anandapur Barrage Project, which seeks to irrigate 60,000 hectares across Keonjhar and Balasore districts.

This development is expected to significantly enhance agricultural productivity and improve the socio-economic conditions of local farmers by ensuring reliable irrigation.

The project underscores the state government’s commitment to advancing agricultural infrastructure and fostering rural prosperity in Odisha.
