Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Tuesday approved the continuation of the State Sector Scheme, “Subsidy under State Agriculture Policy (Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana-MKUY),” for another five years from 2026-27 to 2030-31 with a total outlay of Rs 2,496.40 crore to promote agri-entrepreneurship and commercial agri-enterprises across the state.

The scheme, launched under the State Agriculture Policy, provides capital investment subsidy to eligible entrepreneurs for setting up commercial agricultural ventures. The extension has been approved in view of the overwhelming response to the programme and the need to promote agricultural diversification, adoption of modern technologies and high-value agriculture.

Under the scheme, financial assistance and subsidies will be provided for establishing commercial agri-enterprises in the agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and animal resources, and food processing sectors.

The initiative also aims to ensure optimum utilisation of available land and natural resources to enhance agricultural and horticultural production while strengthening the rural economy through higher farm incomes and sustainable employment generation.

The scheme will be implemented across all 30 districts of Odisha. During the five-year implementation period, around 8,500 commercial agri-enterprise projects are proposed to be established with an estimated investment of Rs 2,496.40 crore.

The proposal was approved at the 44th meeting of the Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
