Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched the ‘ShaktiShree’ mobile application and unveiled an internship guideline book aimed at strengthening higher education and student support systems in Odisha.

The initiatives were introduced during a two-day national workshop held in the presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.

The ‘ShaktiShree’ app is designed to enhance safety and accessibility for girl students across higher education institutions in the state.

Key features of the application include 24/7 SOS alerts, anonymous reporting mechanisms for harassment, mental health support services, and direct linkage to institutional Internal Complaints Committees.

Alongside the app launch, the Chief Minister also released a comprehensive internship guideline framework aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world experience. The guidelines focus on promoting internships, community engagement, and skill-based education, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.

Speaking on the occasion, Suraj termed the initiatives a “transformative step” in Odisha’s higher education landscape. He said the measures would equip students—particularly young women—with greater confidence, practical exposure, and the necessary tools to thrive in an increasingly competitive global environment.

Officials noted that the combined rollout of the app and internship framework reflects the state government’s push towards inclusive, safe, and industry-oriented higher education.
