Bhubaneswar: Union Coal Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena held a courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today at Lok Seva Bhawan in the presence of Chairman of Coal India P.M Prasad and Chairman of Neyveli Lignite Corporation and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited.
In the discussion, Meena said that 20 per cent of the total coal production of the country is produced from Odisha alone. Therefore, the Ministry of Coal is committed to the development of Odisha and the Prime Minister has given instructions in this direction, he said.
In the meeting, Coal Secretary Meena highlighted various projects and new projects going on in Odisha. He said that, especially in new projects, importance is being given to minimise pollution with the use of modern technology.
The backfilling and recovery of used ore was emphasized in the meeting.
During the discussion, the Chief Minister laid emphasis on employment of local youths in MCL and other central coal PSUs.
CM Majhi also emphasised on early implementation of Talcher Medical College in collaboration of MCL.
Discussion was also held on the development of the local area in the CSR fund. It is reported that MCL will provide funds for the development of sports infrastructure, tourism and other sectors in the state.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Forests Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary Steel and Mines. D.K. Singh and Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister, Nikunj Bihari Dhal were present.
