Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid heartfelt tributes to two legendary freedom fighters, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Veer Surendra Sai, on their birth anniversaries.
Taking to his social media handle, Majhi expressed his deepest admiration for these iconic figures.
For Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Majhi wrote, “Crores of salutes to the great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the son of Odisha, on his birth anniversary. Today, the country is observing ‘Parakram Diwas’ in honour of his leadership, valour, and patriotism. Let us take a pledge to build a ‘Developed India, Developed Odisha’ inspired by Netaji’s ideals.”
Majhi also paid tribute to Veer Surendra Sai, saying, “Millions of salutes to the great freedom fighter and revolutionary Veer Surendra Sai on his birth anniversary. His leadership and contribution in igniting the flame of freedom in the hearts of the countrymen is unforgettable.”
Notably, the Odisha government announced a hefty hike in the monthly pension of freedom fighters and extended similar benefits to those who were jailed under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the Emergency. Majhi had made this announcement during a function organised at Swadhinata Sangrami Sadan ground here to commemorate the death anniversary of former chief minister Utkal Keshari Dr Harekrushna Mahtab.
