Bhubaneswar: Two students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) in Odisha have brought laurels to the state by successfully participating in ISRO YUVIKA 2026, a national-level programme of the Indian Space Research Organisation aimed at encouraging scientific interest among school students.
Deba Disari, a Class X student of EMRS Kotpad in Koraput district, participated in the programme at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The programme provided him an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to India’s space programme, interact with scientists and learn about various aspects of space science and technology.
Similarly, Shyam Charan Tudu of EMRS Bahalda successfully completed the ISRO YUVIKA 2026 programme during the same period. His participation has brought recognition to EMRS Bahalda and EMRS Odisha and is expected to inspire other students to explore opportunities in science and technology.
YUVIKA, or YUva VIgyani KAryakram, is designed to nurture scientific curiosity among school students by familiarising them with space science, technology and applications. It also enables participants to learn about India’s space missions and understand the diverse activities undertaken by ISRO.
The exposure gained by the two Odisha students is expected to encourage them to pursue higher education and careers in science, technology, engineering and space research. Their participation is also likely to motivate other EMRS students across the state to pursue scientific excellence and aspire to take part in prestigious national-level programmes.
