Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the validity of the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021, until September 30, 2026, ensuring the continuation of incentives aimed at promoting electric mobility and investment in the sector.
The Commerce and Transport Department issued a notification stating that the policy has been extended by exercising the powers vested under Paragraph 11.5 of the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021.
The policy was introduced to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across the state while also encouraging the manufacturing of EVs and their components in Odisha.
As part of the policy, the government offers a range of financial incentives, including support for EV manufacturing units, purchase subsidies for electric vehicles, scrapping incentives for old vehicles, interest subvention on loans, and exemption from road tax and vehicle registration fees.
The extension will allow these benefits to remain available until the end of September, providing continued support to consumers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders in the electric mobility ecosystem.
