Bhubaneswar: The State government has extended the service period of Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania till August 16, 2026.

The decision was taken to ensure Khurania completes the minimum tenure of two years as the DGP of Odisha, as stated in a notification issued by the Home Department.

Khurania, a 1990 batch IPS officer, was appointed as the new DGP of Odisha in August. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Special Director General (DG) of Border Security Force (BSF), western command in Chandigarh, before being repatriated to his parent cadre Odisha on August 2.

This extension allows Khurania to continue leading the Odisha police for two years.
