Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday extended greetings to working journalists on the occasion of Odia Journalism Day.
Taking to X, the Governor conveyed his wishes to the media fraternity. “On the occasion of ‘Odia Journalism Day’, heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all journalist friends,” Dr. Kambhampati wrote.
“As the fourth pillar of democracy, the dedication, sacrifice, and contributions of journalists who provide direction to society by giving utmost priority to truth, impartiality, and public interest are commendable. Your role in building a conscious, empowered, and healthy society is noteworthy,” he added.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also greeted journalists on the occasion. “Odia Journalism Day: My heartfelt congratulations and greetings to all journalist brothers and sisters,” the CM posted on X.”
As a strong pillar of democracy, your contributions to upholding truth, impartiality, and public interest are commendable. May the dedicated efforts of Odia journalism in making society aware, empowered, and responsible continue unceasingly,” he said.
Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik stated “True and impartial journalism has always played a pivotal role in building a healthy and vigilant society. On this day, the first Odia newspaper ‘Utkala Deepika’ was published, sparking a renaissance. On Odia Journalism Day, I extend my best wishes to every individual who makes journalism meaningful through their dedication and commitment”.
Odia Journalism Day is observed every year to mark the contribution of Odia media in public awareness and democratic discourse.
