Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police YB Khurania will retire from government service on August 16, 2026 and the Home Department of the state government has given its nod in this regard.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department, Khurania has been allowed to retire with effect from the afternoon of 16.08.2026 on completion of his service period.
“Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, IPS, (RR-1990), Director General of Police, Odisha (HoPF) is allowed to retire from Government service w.c.f 16.08.2026 (AN) on completion of his service period”, read the notification. Khurania is a senior 1990-batch IPS officer. He assumed charge as the DGP of Odisha in 2024.
With Khurania set to demit office next month, the process to appoint the new DGP has been initiated. A key meeting for the selection of the new Director General of Police is scheduled to be held on August 7, sources said.
Earlier, the state government had submitted a panel of 11 senior IPS officers to the UPSC in May. As per established procedure, the UPSC selection committee will choose three names from the panel based on seniority and forward them to the state government for final appointment.
