Odisha Govt Approves Interim Measure To Ensure Uninterrupted Funding For Jal Jeevan Mission Projects

Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet of Odisha has approved a proposal to release the Central share under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) from State funds, anticipating reimbursement from the Government of India. This move aims to maintain uninterrupted funding for ongoing JJM projects, ensuring continuity of construction and commissioning activities.

The proposed fallback mechanism is crucial to prevent demobilization of agencies and contractors, protect substantial public investment, and avoid project cost escalation. It will also help maintain progress towards Har Ghar Jal certification targets and uphold the State’s implementation framework credibility.

This interim financial arrangement is temporary, involves no additional financial liability, and will be adjusted upon receipt of Central funds, following prescribed accounting norms
