Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved a proposal for amendment of the Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1989.

In order to provide ample opportunity to participate in the Odisha Civil Service recruitment examinations for the calendar year 2024,the upper age limit of candidates has been increased from 32 to 38 years for the calendar year 2024.

The upper age limit for entry into government service is governed under the Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1989. As per the provisions contained under rule 2 of the said rules, the upper age limit for entry into Government Service is 32 (Thirty two) years relaxable in case of ST/SC/SEBC/Women and PwDs as prescribed by the Government from time to time.

Considering delay in recruitment process due to unavoidable reasons, the Government had earlier decided to enhance the upper age limit from 32 (thirty two) years to 38 (thirty eight) years for the advertisements made during calendar years 2021, 2022 and 2023 for entry into Government Service.

In the meanwhile, the State Government has framed new Recruitment Rules for different cadres. Further, a number of posts have been created at the base level by way of restructuring of different cadres.

Further, seven Combined Recruitment Examination Rules have been notified wherein new syllabus and pattern of examinations have been incorporated. In the OCS recruitment examinations, the number of attempts have also been increased.
