Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at expanding advanced skill development infrastructure in southern Odisha, the state government has initiated the process of establishing a new campus of the World Skill Center in Brahmapur.
According to official communication, the Skill Development & Technical Education Department has begun preliminary steps for setting up the proposed campus, with a site already identified in Ganjam district.
The department, in a letter issued on June 30, 2026, stated that a parcel of land at Mouza Laudigaon under Konisi Tahasil has been identified for the project. Officials said the proposed location has been found suitable for developing the new facility.
The communication, issued from the office of the Additional Secretary to the Government, has directed the Deputy Director of Skill Development & Employment, Ganjam, to initiate necessary administrative procedures for the project. This includes the preparation and submission of land alienation proposals before the concerned revenue authorities for the transfer of government land in favour of the Skill Development & Technical Education Department.
The land transfer process is a key procedural requirement for the formal allocation of the site and will pave the way for the next phase of planning and infrastructure development.
Once completed, the proposed campus is expected to strengthen vocational education and enhance industry-oriented training opportunities for youth in southern Odisha. The new facility will function as part of the state’s broader effort to scale up skill development initiatives and improve employability among students and job seekers.
