Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has stepped up efforts to promote the use of Odia in official administration by directing all departments and heads of offices to nominate employees who have not yet undergone training in conducting government work in the state’s official language.
In a communication issued recently by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Additional Secretary Rashmi Ranjan Sahu informed all departments and heads of departmental offices that the next phase of practical training on official work in Odia will be conducted by the Odia Bhasa Pratisthan on June 10 and 11, 2026.
The training programme will be held at Sanskruti Bhavan, located within the State Museum premises in Bhubaneswar.
The department has asked all government offices to submit, by June 6, a list of officers and employees who have not yet participated in the training. The details must include the names and contact numbers of the nominated personnel.
The directive, issued with reference to a letter from the Director of the Odia Bhasa Pratisthan dated May 26, 2026, has been marked as “most urgent,” underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening the use of Odia in official correspondence and administrative functioning.
Officials have been instructed to keep the General Administration and Public Grievance Department informed about compliance with the directive.
