Bhubaneswar: The Odia music and film industry was left in deep shock on Monday following the untimely demise of popular Ollywood playback singer Humane Sagar at the age of 36.
Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida expressed their grief over Sagar’s passing on social media platform X.
Governor Kambhampati wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of eminent vocalist Humane Sagar. His contribution to the world of Odia music and cinema will always be remembered.”
LoP Naveen Patnaik wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Humane Sagar. His emotional music touched the hearts of countless listeners. I pray for the eternal peace of his soul and express my condolences to the bereaved family members in this time of grief.”
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the untimely demise of Odisha’s popular singer Humane Sagar. I pray for the eternal peace of his soul and extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May God grant his family courage and fortitude in this hour of grief.”
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida added, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of popular vocalist Humane Sagar. His passing is an irreparable loss to the art world. Praying for the repose of his departed soul, I extend my condolences to his family in this hour of grief.”
According to Dr. Srikant Behera of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Humane Sagar passed away on Monday evening while undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar. He had been admitted to the AIIMS emergency department on October 14 at 1.10 pm in a critical condition and was later moved to the Medical ICU.
Doctors confirmed that the singer was suffering from multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, acute-on-chronic liver failure, bilateral pneumonia, and dilated cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction. Despite aggressive treatment by a team of specialist doctors, his condition did not improve, and he breathed his last at 9 pm.
The sudden demise of Humane Sagar has left a void in the Odia music and film industry, with fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a talented and beloved artist.
