Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday announced a major recruitment drive in the health sector, with plans to fill 1,726 technical posts to strengthen healthcare services across the state. The move aims to address manpower shortages in government health institutions and ensure better medical facilities for patients.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has initiated steps to recruit 1,108 Pharmacist Officers, 238 Ophthalmic Officers, and 380 Medical Lab Technicians. The appointments are expected to improve the medicine management system, enhance eye care services, and strengthen diagnostic facilities in hospitals and healthcare centres.
The posts have already received approval from the Finance Department, and the recruitment process will be carried out through regular and transparent procedures, officials said.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling said the state government is working towards improving human resources in the healthcare sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
“Under the guidance of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Health Department has taken several initiatives to strengthen manpower. The priority is to eliminate staff shortages in medical institutions and ensure that patients receive quality healthcare services without any inconvenience,” Mahaling said.
The recruitment process for these posts will begin soon, with appointments to be made as per the prescribed guidelines, the department said.
