Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday hiked the number of casual leaves to 25 days for women employees working in various departments of the government.
As per the official release issued from the Chief Minister’s Office, women employees working in various departments of the government shall now be entitled to 25 days of casual leave annually as against 15 days of temporary leave given to government employees.
At present, government employees are getting 15 casual leaves every year. With the addition of 10 extra leaves per year, women government employees will now be entitled to get 25 days of casual leave.
Concerned over domestic responsibilities and other problems faced by women government employees, the Odisha government took this decision.
It may be noted that Odisha was the first state to announce 33 per cent reservation in government jobs during the 90’s.
Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced various benefits for block grant employees of educational institutions, including casual leaves, maternity leaves, and retirement benefits.
