Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today revealed that the State has 1976 elephants in different forests and sanctuaries as per the latest elephant census.
Replying to Congress’ Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Amat informed the State Assembly that Odisha is home to as many as 780 big cats out of which 20 are the Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT).
The latest tiger census has also found 760 leopards in the State, Amat said.
The minister informed it while responding to Bahinipati who wanted to know the details regarding the tiger population in the State as per the latest census.
