Bhubaneswar: The two-day International Symposium on Shree Anna (Millets) and Women Farmers 2025 wrapped up successfully at Lokaseva Bhavan Convention Centre. The event, organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, focused on “The Role of Women in Conservation of Agricultural Heritage and Biodiversity”.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan graced the inaugural session. Chouhan praised Odisha’s efforts in conserving agricultural heritage and promoting millets, highlighting the state’s Millet Day and leadership in millet production.
The Union Minister also noted that Odisha is the first State to issue guidelines for the conservation of landraces, as well as guidelines for testing women-centric agricultural machinery. He appreciated the Department’s publication of the Millet Foundation Guide, the first of its kind, which compiles research data and knowledge resources on Shree Anna.
The Union Minister also acknowledged women farmers’ contributions and Odisha’s pioneering initiatives, including guidelines for landrace conservation and women-centric agricultural machinery. The event concluded with Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati attending the closing ceremony.
