Bhubaneswar: In a strict enforcement action against road safety rule violators, the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha, issued a total of 10,207 e-challans on September 7.
According to data released by the STA, twenty vehicles were also seized during the special drive aimed at ensuring better compliance with traffic regulations across the state.
The major violations recorded included 4,603 challans for riding without a helmet, 813 for overspeeding, 475 for driving without valid insurance, and 229 for triple riding. Officials said the intensive checking formed part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by negligence.
The STA has urged citizens to strictly follow road safety rules for a safe journey and to return home safely.
