Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience a less severe winter this year as night temperature will be above normal in several places, including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.

While the night temperature will be above normal in all parts of the state in December, there is a high possibility of rain this month.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the night temperature will not drop significantly in the rest of the regions in the state too. The forecast of the weather department is based on its assessment of the weather conditions in the state from December to February. There is unlikely to be a cold wave in the state this winter.

Since 1901, November this year was the warmest winter month for the second time in Indian history. On the other hand, October was the warmest month in123 years.

Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast rainfall in northern, central and southern Odisha from December 3 to 5. Dry weather can be expected from December 6 to 8 in most parts of the state.
