New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha and Madhya Pradesh have entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen cooperation in the renewable energy sector, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the 7th CII International Energy Conference and Exhibition in New Delhi on Friday. The agreement aims to promote collaborative efforts in clean energy development, energy efficiency, technology transfer, research, and knowledge sharing between the two states.

The MoU, signed between the Energy Department of the Government of Odisha and the New and Renewable Energy Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh (MPNRED), provides a broad framework for advancing renewable energy initiatives and supporting India’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.

Describing the agreement as a significant step towards strengthening inter-state cooperation, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said the partnership would help accelerate clean energy adoption while promoting innovation and sustainable infrastructure development.

He said the collaboration brings together the complementary strengths of Odisha and Madhya Pradesh to establish a model for regional cooperation in the clean energy sector. According to him, the partnership is expected to contribute to sustainable development, improve energy resilience, and support India’s long-term green growth objectives.

Under the agreement, the two states will jointly promote the development of solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects to meet rising energy requirements. They will also establish technical exchange mechanisms for sharing expertise in policy formulation, regulatory practices, and grid integration.

The partnership further envisages collaborative research and development in emerging areas such as energy storage technologies and green hydrogen. Officials said the initiative is expected to facilitate the exchange of technical knowledge, encourage innovation, and support the deployment of advanced clean energy solutions.

By leveraging Odisha’s expanding industrial ecosystem and Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy infrastructure, both states aim to reduce the cost of clean energy technologies, improve grid reliability, and create new opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

The MoU marks another step in India’s efforts to encourage greater cooperation among states in advancing renewable energy and achieving national clean energy and climate goals.
