Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha on Saturday declared the results of the annual High School Certificate (Matric) Examination 2026, with an overall pass percentage of 95.33 per cent.
The results were formally announced at a special programme held at the Board’s office by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond in the presence of Board President Srikanta Tarai and other senior officials.
A total of 5,36,306 students had appeared for the examination this year, out of which 5,19,251 candidates successfully passed. The Board informed that 8,364 students remained absent during the examination.
As per the grade-wise distribution, 2,456 students secured A1 grade, 15,681 obtained A2, 43,565 got B1, 86,103 secured B2, 1,29,813 achieved C grade, 1,46,152 were placed in D grade, and 95,481 students passed with E grade.
In terms of district performance, Gajapati recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.31 per cent, while Keonjhar district registered the lowest at 95.33 per cent. Notably, 3,310 high schools achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, while three schools recorded zero results.
The Matric examination was conducted across 3,082 centres in the state from February 19 to March 2, 2026, with the evaluation process commencing on March 19.
The Board also declared results for the State Open School Certificate and Madhyama examinations alongside the HSC results.
Students can access their results online from 6 pm onwards through the official portals of the Board. To improve accessibility, especially in areas with limited internet connectivity, an SMS-based facility has been introduced. Candidates can check their results by typing OR10<RollNo> and sending it to 5676750.
In a first, the Board has introduced bilingual certificates, which will be issued in both Odia and English for successful candidates.
Institution heads will be able to download the Tabulation Register from the official websites starting 7 pm on Saturday.
For context, the overall pass percentage in 2025 stood higher at 96.7 per cent, with girls outperforming boys.
