Odisha MLAs Visit Telangana Assembly, Discuss Legislative & Departmental Functioning

Odisha MLAs Visit Telangana Assembly

Bhubaneswar: A seven-member committee of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, headed by Departmental Standing Committee-7 Chairman Sudhir Ranjan Pattjoshi, is visiting Telangana to study the functioning of various government departments and legislative committees.

The committee, which began its visit on August 6, includes Standing Committee members Tusharkanti Behera, Tankadhar Tripathy, Agasti Behera and Durga Charan Tanti. Legislative Assembly Committee chairpersons Ishwar Chandra Nayak and Prashant Kumar Das are also part of the delegation.

On August 7, the committee visited the Telangana State Legislative Assembly and paid courtesy calls on the Speaker, Chairman of the Legislative Council and chairpersons of the concerned committees.

During the visit, the Odisha delegation held detailed discussions with senior officials of various departments on their functioning, management and administrative practices.

The discussions covered the Industries Department, Steel and Mines Department, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Commerce and Transport Department, Planning and Convergence Department, and Skill Development and Technical Education Department.

The delegation also discussed the functioning of various committees of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and the process of reviewing departmental budgets.

The interactions provided an opportunity for the members of the Odisha committee to exchange information, suggestions and best practices on legislative procedures, departmental functioning and budgetary oversight.

The visit is aimed at gaining a better understanding of the functioning of government departments and legislative committees and exploring practices that could be useful in strengthening the functioning of Odisha’s legislative system.
