Bhubaneswar: A state-level Tech-Bootcamp on Information Security and Risk Management was conducted on Tuesday at Odisha NIC, Bhubaneswar, with the participation of around 100 officials from the Odisha government officials and NIC Odisha State Centre.
Delivering the Inaugural Address, Professor Banshidhar Majhi, Vice Chancellor of CV Raman Global University highlighted the growing importance of information security and emphasised the need to identify, assess and effectively manage information security risks in the present digital landscape.
In his keynote address, Air Commodore Niranjan Kumar Parhi (Retd.), former ADG of Defence Cyber Agency, Ministry of Defence elaborated on the offensive and defensive applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in cyber security and the emerging challenges and opportunities associated with the use of AI.
Welcoming the guests and participants, Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer, NIC Odisha, spoke about the objectives and various aspects of the bootcamp. He expressed the hope that the programme would enhance the participants’ awareness and understanding of information security and risk management.
On the occasion, a cyber-security awareness brochure was launched, and the September 2026 edition of Odisha NIC’s monthly newsletter, The Ascender, was released by the dignitaries.
The bootcamp featured five technical sessions covering various aspects of cyber threats and cyber security, including the Cyber Defence Toolkit, Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, mobile device security and hacking, and other emerging areas.
The programme was coordinated by Shiwani Korah, Senior Director (IT) & Head, Training Division. Jayant Kumar Mishra, Niladri Bihari Mohanty, Rahul Kumar Sinha, Senior Scientists of NIC conducted the sessions and provided participants with practical insights into contemporary cyber security challenges and appropriate defence mechanisms.
