Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has procured 26,28,228 tons of paddy and paid Rs 7,379 crore to the farmers this season so far. The total payments include Rs 1,904 crore which has been paid to farmers as input subsidy, state Food and Supplies Minister Krishna Chandra Patra told the media on Monday.
According to the minister, so far 4,99,778 farmers have received the price for their paddy.
In reply to a question, Patra said that the MI of Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district has been suspended for negligence of duty and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found erring in their duty.
At the same time, the minister admitted that the number of paddy analyzers in the mandis across the state is insufficient. He said, “Currently, the number of analyzers is not sufficient and we plan to bring more machines in the future to purchase more paddy from the farmers.”
