Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to restructure the State Planning Board to align it with the NITI Aayog model, aiming to enhance its strategic planning and decision-making capabilities.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi shared this information while responding to a question by BJP MLA Tankadhara Tripathy in the Odisha Assembly.

The Chief Minister stated that discussions with experts are already underway to revamp the board. He criticized the previous BJD government for neglecting the Planning Board, revealing that it had convened only twice in 24 years—once in 2003 and again in 2007.

Majhi emphasized the urgent need for a dynamic and proactive Planning Board to address the state’s developmental priorities effectively.

Highlighting the BJP government’s commitment to making the board functional and impactful, the CM assured that steps would be taken to hold more frequent meetings. “The revamped structure will align with the NITI Aayog framework, ensuring enhanced planning capabilities and strategic interventions for the state,” he added.

The reconstitution of the Planning Board is expected to bolster Odisha’s capacity to drive development initiatives, prioritize resource allocation, and address regional disparities.
