Bhubaneswar: Western Odisha remained the hottest zone, with Jharsuguda recording the highest temperature of 41.2°C at 11:30 am today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report.
Odisha continued to experience severe heatwave conditions as temperatures soared across several parts of the state. Sambalpur recorded 40.6°C, followed by Hirakud at 40.2°C.
Even the state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 37.2°C with a relative humidity of 60%, resulting in a dangerously high heat index of 52°C. This extreme heat index has indicated that the weather feels significantly hotter than the actual temperature due to high humidity.
Meanwhile, the IMD has strongly advised citizens to take necessary precautions. People have been urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun between 11 am and 3 pm.
