Bhubaneswar: Odisha has restored more than 96 per cent of electricity supply in eight cyclone-affected districts, with over 6,400 personnel engaged in round-the-clock restoration work following Cyclone ‘Arnab’, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said on Sunday.

In a video message shared on the X handle of the state’s Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, Singh Deo said power supply had been fully restored in Boudh, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts, as well as Brahmapur city.

He said the restoration work was being carried out on a war footing through coordinated efforts by field-level teams, with priority being given to public safety and consumer welfare.

As of 10 am on November 1, power restoration had reached 99.79 per cent in Nabarangpur, 99.50 per cent in Koraput, 99.13 per cent in Kandhamala and 98.86 per cent in Gajapati, the deputy chief minister said.

In Ganjam and Gajapati districts, 95.28 per cent of power supply had been restored, with all 33-kV feeders and power substations successfully brought back into operation.

Special teams have been deployed in Ganjam and Gajapati to expedite electricity restoration in the remaining flood-affected areas, he said.

More than 6,400 personnel are currently engaged in restoration operations on the ground to ensure the earliest possible normalisation of electricity services in the affected areas.

Emphasising the importance of public safety, Singh Deo said the administration was also prioritising the safety of field personnel involved in the restoration exercise.

He appreciated the coordinated efforts and dedication of the teams working to restore electricity supply across the affected districts.
