Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Revenue Department on Friday reviewed a range of priority issues, including the proposed land reform programme, strengthening citizen-centric governance, expediting budget expenditure and improving revenue collection.
A meeting of senior departmental officers was held at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, where strategies were discussed to make the next phase of land reforms more effective and ensure timely delivery of services to citizens.
The meeting also focused on ensuring proper and timely utilisation of budgetary allocations for developmental activities. Senior officials deliberated on measures to make revenue collection more efficient and strengthen the overall functioning of the department.
During the meeting, Dr Padhee felicitated S.K. Jamiruddin, Special Secretary in the Revenue Department, as the ‘Performer of the Month’ in recognition of his performance.
Dr Padhee also highlighted the State Government’s recent corrective measures concerning the English spelling of place names in accordance with the phonetic characteristics of the Odia language. He described the initiative as an important step towards preserving linguistic heritage and identity while improving the accuracy of administrative records.
The officers stressed the need for coordinated efforts to make the department’s functioning more efficient, transparent, accountable and people-oriented, besides further strengthening revenue administration.
The monthly recognition of outstanding officers, a practice followed by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department, is aimed at encouraging greater commitment to public service and motivating officials to discharge their responsibilities with dedication.
