Bhubaneswar: Day temperatures across Odisha remained largely in the mid-30 degrees Celsius range on Wednesday, with several western and interior districts recording higher readings, according to the evening bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.
Boudh and Sonepur emerged as among the hottest places in the state, each recording a maximum temperature of 36.2°C, closely followed by Jharsuguda (36.2°C), Talcher (36.5°C), Chandbali (36.4°C), and Angul (36.1°C). The industrial town of Talcher registered the highest maximum temperature at 36.5°C.
The capital city Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7°C, while Cuttack reported 34.2°C. Coastal areas such as Puri (32.0°C), Gopalpur (31.0°C), and Paradip (31.2°C) remained relatively cooler compared to interior regions.
In contrast, some parts of southern and northern Odisha experienced comparatively lower daytime temperatures. Nabarangpur recorded the lowest maximum temperature in the state at 29.5°C, followed by Phulbani (30.5°C) and Daringbadi (30.0°C).
Night temperatures showed a noticeable dip in several interior districts. Daringbadi, often referred to as Odisha’s coldest place, recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 16.5°C. Other cooler locations included Jharsuguda (17.2°C), Keonjhar (20.4°C), and Sundargarh (18.2°C).
The temperature variation across the state reflects typical pre-summer conditions, with interior districts heating up faster than coastal belts due to maritime influence.
The IMD bulletin indicated no significant rainfall activity in most parts of the state during the past 24 hours, allowing temperatures to rise steadily, particularly in western Odisha.
