Hyderabad/Bhubaneswar: Odisha showcased its energy strengths, investment opportunities and vision for a secure, sustainable and future-ready energy ecosystem at the India Energy Summit & Expo 2026, which concluded here on Wednesday.
Satyapriya Rath, Managing Director of GRIDCO, represented Odisha at a high-level panel discussion on “Power Generation & India’s Energy Security: Thermal Transition, Hydrogen & Grid-Scale Storage”, where he highlighted the state’s approach towards a balanced energy transition combining reliable thermal capacity, renewable energy, grid-scale storage and green hydrogen.
A key highlight for Odisha was the award conferred on the Government of Odisha, which was received by Rath on behalf of the state government.
Girish Tanty, Director (Trading & Business Development), GRIDCO Ltd., also participated in the summit’s deliberations and highlighted Odisha’s perspective on the evolving energy landscape and the important role of states in advancing India’s energy transition.
The Energy Department, Government of Odisha, participated as the Prime State Partner and set up a dedicated Odisha State Pavilion at the summit. The pavilion showcased the state’s energy potential, investment opportunities and plans for developing a balanced, reliable and resilient power system.
It highlighted opportunities across renewable energy, floating solar, wind power, pumped storage, battery energy storage and green hydrogen.
Odisha has set a target of adding 10.96 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 through solar, wind, pumped storage and small hydro projects. The state is also focusing on strengthening grid-scale storage and transmission infrastructure to meet its growing energy requirements.
The summit provided Odisha an opportunity to engage with policymakers, industry leaders and energy-sector stakeholders, exchange ideas and explore partnerships for developing a resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
With its strong industrial base, renewable energy potential, strategic coastline and ports, and expanding clean-energy ecosystem, Odisha is positioning itself to play a significant role in India’s next phase of energy growth.
