Bhubaneswar: With conditions not remaining favourable for further advance of monsoon despite it touching the State on Saturday, parts of Odisha reeled under heat wave conditions with as many as 16 places recording maximum day temperatures of 40°C and above.
Similarly, hot and humid conditions prevailed in the coastal districts of the State.
According to the evening news bulletin of the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Nuapada was the hottest place in the State with a maximum day temperature of 43.7°C followed by Malkangiri at 43.5°C, Boudh at 43.2°C, Jharsuguda 42.6°C, Titilagarh 42.5°C, Rourkela 42.3°C, Bolangir 42°C, Sambalpur 42°C, Sonepur 42°C, Bhawanipatna 41.5°C, Bargarh 41.1°C, Sundargarh 40.8°C, Nayagarh 40.7°C, Khordha 40.5°C, and Angul 40.1°C.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded maximum day temperatures of 37.4°C and 38.4°C respectively.
The IMD has forecast a gradual rise in maximum temperature by 2°C to 3°C during the next five days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.
