Bhubaneswar: The State government has directed all Collectors to assess crop damage due to the cyclonic storm “MICHAUNG in their respective jurisdiction and submit detailed report on it by December 12.
In a letter to all Collectors, Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu asked them to conduct field-level assessment through joint inquiry by the officials of the Revenue & Disaster Management Department and Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment Department through eye estimation to ascertain the crop area damaged of 33% and above.
Sahu asked them to submit ULB/ Block/ GP/ Village wise report by December 12, 2013 positively. The Collectors can also mail the soft copy of the information in excel format to srcodishagov@gmail.com, the letter read.
“While assessing the extent of crop loss, the land schedule/RoR of affected farmers should be verified from Bhulekh. Collectors will accord approval of crop loss (farmer-wise extent of crop area damaged as assessed) and intimate requirement of funds for disbursement of AIS as admissible,” the SRC stated.
In the letter, Sahu mentioned that widespread rain induced by Cyclone “MICHAUNG might have caused damage to standing Kharif and horticulture crops. The farmers suffering 33% crop loss or above are entitled to get Agricultural Input Subsidy (AIS) as per government norms, which can ameliorate their sufferings to some extent.
Notably, most of the places especially southern parts of the State experienced heavy rain for the last two days under the influence of the cyclone that made landfall in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
